Have you heard the phrase "Boulder City...the town that Hoover Dam Built"?
It's true. In 1931, the Bureau for Reclamation and Six Companies, Inc., formed Boulder City to house their workers for the Dam construction. The guidelines back then included no gambling, no alcohol (formed during the Prohibition). In 1959 Boulder City was incorporated. Amazingly, the strict guidelines of no gambling remain today. Did you know Boulder City is one of two cities in Nevada where gambling is not allowed. Don't worry, if you feel like pressing your luck, then your a short 35 minute drive to the Las Vegas Strip!
